When we say “TakeTwo,” we mean it.

Every project we take on benefits from both perspectives — fundraising & communications.

Our approach is simple:

All fundraising is a matter of persuasion. Persuading with facts, figures, impact, and a lot of heart. We bring a marketing lens — word-smithing, visuals, strategy, and that emotional tug — to all aspects of fundraising. Similarly, every donor communications effort considers that everyone is a potential donor. So, even if it’s a social media post thanking volunteers, we craft that post with the view that the reader might want to learn more, and may even give a dollar, or two.

FAQ

Does that mean I’m paying double with TakeTwo?

This is our two-for-one promise: We examine every project* considering the twin goals of fundraising and donor communications. We make our recommendations for what we think is best for you — not us. You decide what of our services — combined or not — you need. Sometimes that means re-thinking your budget, but most often, we work within yours.

*with the exception of most grant-writing.

Speaking of budgets…?

Glad you asked. Everyone does! We’re flexible, and we work smart. We rarely watch the clock, and we only charge based on the scope of work.

Why? Some projects — for example, an end-of-year giving campaign, require strategy, writing, design, execution, and tracking. Charging an hourly rate for each part of these kinds of projects simply doesn’t make good math.

  • Most projects are month-to-month, and our fees begin at a minimum of $1500 per month.
  • Our average fee — depending on the scope of work — is $3000-$5000 per month.
  • Our trainings and workshops are $800/day, plus prep-time.
  • We’re also available for one-off projects that require two heads and, of course, two services: Annual reports, written/visual/online cases for support, website or even donation page overhauls, consultations on board development, trainings, and more. Such projects typically begin at $1000.

How long will you need us?

Most of our relationships with clients continue for years. That’s because most organizations find it more cost-effective to work with us, since we bring director-level expertise alongside day-to-day execution — with no overhead or fringe-benefit costs.

We pride ourselves on our efficiency. We meet deadlines. We’re responsive. But of course, we’d say that! So, ask our clients. (link to testimonials)

What’s a typical relationship with TakeTwo like?

We’re not “traditional” consultants. We don’t give you a plan and walk away. Like Elvis, we’re committed to TCB (i.e., taking care of business, for the non-admirers) and so, we include execution of a plan into our work scope, if needed. We also like working in partnership with staff, and can “embed” ourselves within your organization’s structure by leading meetings, weekly calls, etc. We’re hands-on but we don’t take up precious office space!

We also don’t believe that the traditional 9-to-5 model is ideal in a global world with 24/7 news. Instead, we work flexible schedules that make it possible for us and our team members to join you for evening events when necessary, and be there for our families and hobbies, or even take a walk in the middle of the day.

It makes us happier, healthier, and in truth, more productive.

What kinds of clients do we take on?

We work exclusively with nonprofit organizations. Of all sizes, missions, and in all domains or fields – from Arts to Zombie-rights… well, maybe not the latter. Yet. We especially love working on social justice, arts, and culture, and gender and racial equity projects.

Our base is in New York City, but we work across borders with US-based organizations and international organizations.
